Ayah Study

And on the Day that the Hour will be established, the Mujrimûn (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners) will swear that they stayed not but an hour - thus were they ever deluded [away from the truth (i.e. they used to tell lies and take false oaths, and turn away from the truth) in this life of the world)]

just as thou canst not lead the blind [of heart] out of their error: none canst thou make hear [thy call] save such as [are willing to] believe in Our messages, and thus surrender themselves unto Us.

اور جس روز قیامت برپا ہوگی گنہگار قسمیں کھائیں گے کہ وہ (دنیا میں) ایک گھڑی سے زیادہ نہیں رہے تھے۔ اسی طرح وہ (رستے سے) اُلٹے جاتے تھے

يخبر تعالى عن يوم القيامة وسرعة مجيئه وأنه إذا قامت الساعة { يُقْسِمُ الْمُجْرِمُونَ } باللّه أنهم { مَا لَبِثُوا } في الدنيا إلَا { سَاعَة } وذلك اعتذار منهم لعله ينفعهم العذر واستقصار لمدة الدنيا.ولما كان قولهم كذبا لا حقيقة له قال تعالى: { كَذَلِكَ كَانُوا يُؤْفَكُونَ } أي: ما زالوا -وهم في الدنيا- يؤفكون عن الحقائق ويأتفكون الكذب، ففي الدنيا كذَّبوا الحق الذي جاءتهم به المرسلون، وفي الآخرة أنكروا الأمر المحسوس وهو اللبث الطويل في الدنيا، فهذا خلقهم القبيح والعبد يبعث على ما مات عليه.

ويوم تجيء القيامة ويبعث الله الخلق من قبورهم يقسم المشركون ما مكثوا في الدنيا غير فترة قصيرة من الزمن، كذبوا في قسمهم، كما كانوا يكذبون في الدنيا، وينكرون الحق الذي جاءت به الرسل.

يخبر تعالى عن جهل الكفار في الدنيا والآخرة ففي الدنيا فعلوا ما فعلوا من عبادة الأوثان وفي الآخرة يكون منهم جهل عظيم أيضا فمنه إقسامهم بالله أنهم ما لبثوا غير ساعة واحدة في الدنيا ومقصودهم بذلك عدم قيام الحجة عليهم وأنهم لم ينظروا حتى يعذر إليهم.

The Ignorance of the Disbelievers in this World and in the Hereafter Here Allah tells us of the ignorance of the disbelievers in this world and in the Hereafter. In this world they worship idols, and in the Hereafter they will also display great ignorance. They will swear by Allah that they did not even stay for one hour in this world. They will mean that there was not enough time given to establish proof against them which would leave them with no excuse. Allah says: كَذَلِكَ كَانُواْ يُؤْفَكُونَوَقَالَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ الْعِلْمَ وَالإِيمَـنَ لَقَدْ لَبِثْتُمْ فِى كِتَـبِ اللَّهِ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْبَعْثِ (thus were they ever deluded. And those who have been bestowed with knowledge and Faith will say: "Indeed you have stayed according to the decree of Allah, until the Day of Resurrection...") The believers who have knowledge of the Hereafter will respond to them, just as they established the proof of Allah against them in this world. When they swear that they did not stay even one hour in this world, they will say to them: لَقَدْ لَبِثْتُمْ فِى كِتَـبِ اللَّهِ (Indeed you have stayed according to the decree of Allah,) meaning, the Book of deeds, إِلَى يَوْمِ الْبَعْثِ (until the Day of Resurrection;) means, `from the day when you were created until the day you were resurrected. ' وَلَـكِنَّكُمْ كُنتمْ لاَ تَعْلَمُونَ (but you knew not.) Allah says: فَيَوْمَئِذٍ (So, on that Day) meaning, the Day of Resurrection, لاَّ ينفَعُ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ مَعْذِرَتُهُمْ (no excuse of theirs will avail those who did wrong,) means, their excuses for what they did. وَلاَ هُمْ يُسْتَعْتَبُونَ (nor will they be allowed (then) to return to seek (Allah's) pleasure.) means, they will not be allowed to return to this world. This is like the Ayah, وَإِن يَسْتَعْتِبُواْ فَمَا هُم مِّنَ الْمُعْتَبِينَ (and if they seek to please (Allah), yet they are not of those who will ever be allowed to please (Allah)) (41:24).

واپسی ناممکن ہوگی اللہ تعالیٰ خبر دیتا ہے کہ کفار دنیا اور آخرت کے کاموں سے بالکل جاہل ہیں۔ دنیا میں ان کی جہالت تو یہ ہے کہ اللہ کیساتھ اوروں کو شریک کرتے رہے اور اخرت میں یہ جہالت کریں گے کہ قسمیں کھاکر کہیں گے کہ ہم دنیا میں صرف ایک ساعت ہی رہے۔ اس سے ان کا مقصد یہ ہوگا کہ اتنے تھوڑے سے وقت میں ہم پر کوئی حجت قائم نہیں ہوئی۔ ہمیں معذور سمجھا جائے۔ اسی لیے فرمایا کہ یہ جیسے یہاں بہکی بہکی باتیں کر رے ہیں دنیا میں یہ بہکے ہوئے ہی رہے۔ فرماتا ہے کہ علماء کرام جس طرح ان کے اس کہنے پر دنیا میں انہیں دلائل دے کر قائل معقول کرتے رہے آخرت میں بھی ان سے کہیں گے کہ تم جھوٹی قسمیں کھا رہے ہو۔ تم کتاب اللہ یعنی کتاب اعمال میں اپنی پیدائش سے لے کر جی اٹھنے تک ٹھہرے رہے لیکن تم بےعلم اور نرے جاہل لوگ ہو۔ پس قیامت کے دن ظالموں کو اپنے کرتوت سے معذرت کرنا محض بےسود رہے گا۔ اور دنیا کی طرف لوٹائے نہ جائیں گے۔ جیسے فرمان ہے آیت (وَاِنْ يَّسْـتَعْتِبُوْا فَمَا هُمْ مِّنَ الْمُعْتَـبِيْنَ 24؀) 41۔ فصلت :24) یعنی اگر وہ دنیا کی طرف لوٹنا چاہیں تو لوٹ نہیں سکتے۔
