"And invoke not besides Allâh, any such that will neither profit you nor harm you, but if (in case) you did so, you shall certainly be one of the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers).<sup foot_note=154613>1</sup>"

For, alas, there has never yet been any community that attained to faith [in its entirety,] and thereupon benefited by its faith, except the people of Jonah. When they came to believe, We removed from them the suffering of disgrace [which otherwise would have befallen them even] in the life of this world, and allowed them to enjoy their life during the time allotted to them.

اور خدا کو چھوڑ کر ایسی چیز کو نہ پکارنا جو نہ تمہارا کچھ بھلا کرسکے اور نہ کچھ بگاڑ سکے۔ اگر ایسا کرو گے تو ظالموں میں ہوجاؤ گے

{ وَلَا تَدْعُ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ مَا لَا يَنْفَعُكَ وَلَا يَضُرُّكَ ْ} وهذا وصف لكل مخلوق، أنه لا ينفع ولا يضر، وإنما النافع الضار، هو الله تعالى. { فَإِنْ فَعَلْتَ ْ} بأن دعوت من دون الله، ما لا ينفعك ولا يضرك { فَإِنَّكَ إِذًا مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ ْ} أي: الضارين أنفسهم بإهلاكها، وهذا الظلم هو الشرك كما قال تعالى: { إِنَّ الشِّرْكَ لَظُلْمٌ عَظِيمٌ ْ} فإذا كان خير الخلق، لو دعا مع الله غيره، لكان من الظالمين المشركين فكيف بغيره؟!!

ولا تَدْعُ -أيها الرسول- من دون الله شيئًا من الأوثان والأصنام؛ لأنها لا تنفع ولا تضرُّ، فإن فعَلْت ذلك ودعوتها من دون الله فإنك إذًا من المشركين بالله، الظالمين لأنفسهم بالشرك والمعصية. وهذا وإن كان خطابًا للرسول صلى الله عليه وسلَّم فإنه موجَّه لعموم الأمة.

لا يوجد تفسير لهذه الأية

The Command to worship Allah Alone and rely upon Him Allah, the Exalted, says to His Messenger, Muhammad , `Say: O mankind! If you are in doubt about the correctness of that which I have been sent with the Hanif (monotheism) religion - the religion which Allah has revealed to me -- then know that I do not worship those whom you worship besides Allah. Rather, I worship Allah alone, ascribing no partners to Him. He is the One Who causes you to die just as He gives you life. Then, unto Him is your final return. If the gods that you call upon are real, I still refuse to worship them. So call upon them and ask them to harm me, and you will see that they can bring no harm or benefit. The only One Who holds the power of harm and benefit in His Hand is Allah alone, Who has no partners.' وَأُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (And I was commanded to be one of the believers.) 10:104 Concerning Allah's statement, وَأَنْ أَقِمْ وَجْهَكَ لِلدِّينِ حَنِيفًا (And that you direct your face towards the Hanif religion) This means to make one's intention in worship solely for Allah alone, being a Hanif. Hanif means one who turns away from associating partners with Allah. For this reason Allah says, وَلاَ تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكَينَ (and not be one of the idolators. ) This statement is directly connected with the previous statement, وَأُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (And I was commanded to be one of the believers.) Concerning His statement, وَإِن يَمْسَسْكَ اللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ (And if Allah touches you with harm,) This verse contains the explanation that good, evil, benefit and harm only come from Allah alone and no one shares with His power over these things. Therefore, He is the One Who deserves to be worshipped alone, without ascription of partners. Concerning His statement, وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ (And He is the Pardoning, the Merciful.) This means that He is forgiving and merciful towards those who turn to Him in repentance, regardless of what sin the person has committed. Even if the person associated a partner with Allah, verily Allah would forgive him if he repented from it.

دین حنیف کی وضاحت یکسوئی والا سچا دین جو میں اپنے اللہ کی طرف سے لے کر آیا ہوں اس میں اے لوگوں اگر تمہیں کوئی شک شبہ ہے تو ہو، یہ تو ناممکن ہے کہ تمہاری طرح میں بھی مشرک ہوجاؤں اور اللہ کے سوا دوسروں کی پرستش کرنے لگوں۔ میں تو صرف اسی اللہ کا بندہ ہوں اور اسی کی بندگی میں لگا رہوں گا جو تمہاری موت پر بھی ویسا ہی قادر ہے جیسا تمہاری پیدائش پر قادر ہے تم سب اسی کی طرف لوٹنے والے اور اسی کے سامنے جمع ہونے والے ہو۔ اچھا اگر تمہارے یہ معبود کچھ طاقت وقدرت رکھتے ہیں تو ان سے کہو کہ جو ان کے بس میں ہو مجھے سزا دیں۔ حق تو یہ ہے کہ نہ کوئی سزا ان کے قبضے میں نہ جزا۔ یہ محض بےبس ہیں، بےنفع و نقصان ہیں، بھلائی برائی سب میرے اللہ کے قبضے میں ہے۔ وہ واحد اور لاشریک ہے، مجھے اس کا حکم ہے کہ میں مومن رہوں۔ یہ بھی مجھے حکم مل چکا ہے کہ میں صرف اسی کی عبادت کرو۔ شرک سے یکسو اور بالکل علیحدہ رہوں اور مشرکوں میں ہرگز شمولیت نہ کروں۔ خیر و شر نفع ضرر، اللہ ہی کے ہاتھ میں۔ کسی اور کو کسی امر میں کچھ بھی اختیار نہیں۔ پس کسی اور کی کسی طرح کی عبادت بھی لائق نہیں۔ ایک حدیث میں ہے کہ اپنی پوری عمر اللہ تعالیٰ سے بھلائی طلب کرتے رہو۔ رب کی رحمتوں کے موقع کی تلاش میں رہو۔ ان کے موقعوں پر اللہ پاک جسے چاہے اپنی بھر پور رحمتیں عطا فرما دیتا ہے۔ اس سے پہلے عیبوں کی پردہ پوشی اپنے خوف ڈر کا امن طلب کیا کرو۔ پھر فرماتا ہے کہ جس گناہ سے جو شخص جب بھی توبہ کرے، اللہ اسے بخشنے والا اور اس پر مہربانی کرنے والا ہے۔
