Should they find a refuge, or caves, or a place of concealment, they would turn straightway thereto with a swift rush.

Let not, then, their worldly goods or [the happiness which they may derive from] their children excite thy admiration: God but wants to chastise them by these means in this worldly life, and [to cause] their souls to depart while they are [still] denying the truth.

اگر ان کی کوئی بچاؤ کی جگہ (جیسے قلعہ) یا غار ومغاک یا (زمین کے اندر) گھسنے کی جگہ مل جائے تو اسی طرف رسیاں تڑاتے ہوئے بھاگ جائیں

ثم ذكر شدة جبنهم فقال‏:‏ ‏{‏لَوْ يَجِدُونَ مَلْجَأً‏}‏ يلجأون إليه عندما تنزل بهم الشدائد، ‏{‏أَوْ مَغَارَاتٍ‏}‏ يدخلونها فيستقرون فيها ‏{‏أَوْ مُدَّخَلًا‏}‏ أي‏:‏ محلا يدخلونه فيتحصنون فيه ‏{‏لَوَلَّوْا إِلَيْهِ وَهُمْ يَجْمَحُونَ‏}‏ أي‏:‏ يسرعون ويهرعون، فليس لهم ملكة، يقتدرون بها على الثبات‏.‏

لو يجد هؤلاء المنافقون مأمنًا وحصنًا يحفظهم، أو كهفًا في جبل يؤويهم، أو نفقًا في الأرض ينجيهم منكم، لانصرفوا إليه وهم يسرعون.

" لو يجدون ملجأ " أي حصنا يتحصنون به وحرزا يتحرزون به " أو مغارات " وهي التي في الجبال " أو مدخلا " وهو السرب في الأرض والنفق قال ذلك في الثلاثة ابن عباس ومجاهد وقتادة " لولوا إليه وهم يجمحون " أي يسرعون في ذهابهم عنكم لأنهم إنما يخالطونكم كرها لا محبة وودوا أنهم لا يخالطونكم ولكن للضروة أحكام ولهذا لا يزالون في هم وحزن وغم لأن الإسلام وأهله لا يزال في عز ونصر ورفعة فلهذا كلما سر المسلمون ساءهم ذلك فهم يودون أن لا يخالطوا المؤمنين ولهذا قال "لو يجدون ملجأ أو مغارات أو مدخلا لولوا إليه وهم يجمحون".

Exposing Hypocrites' Fright and Fear Allah describes to His Prophet the fright, fear, anxiety and nervousness of the hypocrites, يَحْلِفُونَ بِاللَّهِإِنَّهُمْ لَمِنكُمْ (They swear by Allah that they are truly of you), swearing a sure oath, وَمَا هُم مِّنكُمْ (while they are not of you), in reality, وَلَـكِنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ يَفْرَقُونَ (but they are a people who are afraid), and this is what made them swear. لَوْ يَجِدُونَ مَلْجَئاً (Should they find a refuge), such as a fort in which they hide and fortify themselves, أَوْ مَغَـرَاتٍ (or caves), in some mountains, أَوْ مُدَّخَلاً (or a place of concealment), a tunnel or a hole in the ground, according to the explanation given by Ibn `Abbas, Mujahid and Qatadah, لَّوَلَّوْاْ إِلَيْهِ وَهُمْ يَجْمَحُونَ (they would turn straightway thereto with a swift rush) away from you because they associate with you unwillingly, not because they are fond of you. They prefer that they do not have to mix with you, but necessity has its rules! It is because of this that they feel grief, sadness and sorrow, seeing Islam and its people enjoying ever more might, triumph and glory. Therefore, whatever pleases Muslims brings them grief, and this is why they prefer to disassociate themselves from the believers. Hence Allah's statement, لَوْ يَجِدُونَ مَلْجَئاً أَوْ مَغَـرَاتٍ أَوْ مُدَّخَلاً لَّوَلَّوْاْ إِلَيْهِ وَهُمْ يَجْمَحُونَ (Should they find a refuge, or caves, or a place of concealment, they would turn straightway thereto with a swift rush.) وَمِنْهُمْ مَّن يَلْمِزُكَ فِي الصَّدَقَـتِ فَإِنْ أُعْطُواْ مِنْهَا رَضُواْ وَإِن لَّمْ يُعْطَوْاْ مِنهَا إِذَا هُمْ يَسْخَطُونَ

کثرت مال و دولت عذاب بھی ہے ان کے مال و اولاد کو للچائی ہوئی نگاہوں سے نہ دیکھ۔ ان کی دنیا کی اس ہیرا پھیری کی کوئی حقیقت نہ گن یہ ان کے حق میں کوئی بھلی چیز نہیں یہ تو ان کے لئے دنیوی سزا بھی ہے کہ نہ اس میں سے زکوٰۃ نکلے نہ اللہ کے نام خیرات ہو۔ قتادہ کہتے ہیں یہاں مطلب مقدم موخر ہے یعنی تجھے ان کے مال و اولاد اچھے نہ لگنے چاہئیں اللہ کا ارادہ اس سے انہیں اس حیات دنیا میں ہی سزا دینے کا ہے پہلا قول حضرت حسن بصری کا ہے وہی اچھا اور قوی ہے امام ابن جریر بھی اسی کو پسند فرماتے ہیں۔ اس میں یہ ایسے پھنسے رہیں گے کہ مرتے دم تک راہ ہدایت نصیب نہیں ہوگی۔ یوں ہی بتدریج پکڑ لئے جائیں گے اور انہیں پتہ بھی نہ چلے گا یہی حشمت وجاہت مال و دولت جہنم کی آگ بن جائے گا۔
