Ayah Study

Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم to them): "Believe in it (the Qur’ân) or do not believe (in it). Verily those who were given knowledge before it (the Jews and the Christians like ‘Abdullâh bin Salâm and Salmân Al-Farisî), when it is recited to them, fall down on their faces in humble prostration."

Say: If you were to own all the treasure-houses of my Sustainer’s bounty, lo! you would still try to hold on [to them] tightly for fear of spending [too much]: for man has always been avaricious whereas God is limitless in His bounty].

کہہ دو کہ تم اس پر ایمان لاؤ یا نہ لاؤ (یہ فی نفسہ حق ہے) جن لوگوں کو اس سے پہلے علم (کتاب) دیا ہے۔ جب وہ ان کو پڑھ کر سنایا جاتا ہے تو وہ تھوڑیوں کے بل سجدے میں گر پڑتے ہیں

يقول تعالى لنبيه محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم قل يا محمد لهؤلاء الكافرين بما جئتهم به من هذا القرآن العظيم "آمنوا به أو لا تؤمنوا" أي سواء آمنتم به أم لا فهو حق في نفسه أنزله الله ونوه بذكره في سالف الأزمان في كتبه المنزلة على رسله ولهذا قال "إن الذين أوتوا العلم من قبله" أي من صالحي أهل الكتاب الذين تمسكوا بكتابهم ويقيمونه ولم يبدلوه ولا حرفوه "إذا يتلى عليهم" هذا القرآن "يخرون للأذقان" جمع ذقن وهو أسفل الوجه "سجدا" أي لله عز وجل شكرا على ما أنعم به عليهم من جعله إياهم أهلا إن أدركوا هذا الرسول الذى أنزل عليه هذا الكتاب.

{ ولا يأتونك بمثل إلا جئناك بالحق وأحسن تفسيرا } فإذا تبين أنه الحق، الذي لا شك فيه ولا ريب، بوجه من الوجوه فـ: { قُلْ } لمن كذب به وأعرض عنه: { آمِنُوا بِهِ أَوْ لَا تُؤْمِنُوا } فليس لله حاجة فيكم، ولستم بضاريه شيئًا، وإنما ضرر ذلك عليكم، فإن لله عبادًا غيركم، وهم الذين آتاهم الله العلم النافع: { إِذَا يُتْلَى عَلَيْهِمْ يَخِرُّونَ لِلْأَذْقَانِ سُجَّدًا } أي: يتأثرون به غاية التأثر، ويخضعون له.

قل -أيها الرسول- لهؤلاء المكذبين: آمِنوا بالقرآن أو لا تؤمنوا؛ فإن إيمانكم لا يزيده كمالا وتكذيبكم لا يُلْحِق به نقصًا. إن العلماء الذين أوتوا الكتب السابقة مِن قبل القرآن، وعرفوا حقيقة الوحي، إذا قرئ عليهم القرآن يخشعون، فيسجدون على وجوههم لله سبحانه وتعالى.

Those Who were given Knowledge before truly admit the Qur'an Allah says to His Prophet Muhammad ﷺ: قُلْ (Say) O Muhammad to these disbelievers concerning what you have brought to them of this Glorious Qur'an: ءَامِنُواْ بِهِ أَوْ لاَ تُؤْمِنُواْ ("Believe in it (the Qur'an) or do not believe (in it).) meaning, it is all the same whether you believe in it or not, for it is true in and of itself. It was revealed by Allah, Who mentioned it previously in the Books that He revealed to other Messengers. Hence He says: إِنَّ الَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ الْعِلْمَ مِن قَبْلِهِ (Verily, those who were given knowledge before it,) meaning righteous people among the People of the Book, who adhered to their Books and appreciated them without distorting them. إِذَا يُتْلَى عَلَيْهِمْ (when it is recited to them,) means, when this Qur'an is recited to them, يَخِرُّونَ لِلاٌّذْقَانِ سُجَّدًا (fall down on their chins (faces) in humble prostration. ) means, to Allah, in gratitude for the blessing He has bestowed on them by considering them fit to live until they met this Messenger to whom this Book was revealed. Hence they say: سُبْحَانَ رَبِّنَآ (Glory be to our Lord!), meaning, they extol and glorify their Lord for His perfect power and for not delaying the fulfillment of the promise which He made through His earlier Prophets, that He would send Muhammad ﷺ. Hence they said: سُبْحَانَ رَبِّنَآ إِن كَانَ وَعْدُ رَبِّنَا لَمَفْعُولاً (Glory be to our Lord! Truly, the promise of our Lord must be fulfilled.) وَيَخِرُّونَ لِلاٌّذْقَانِ يَبْكُونَ (And they fall down on their chins (faces) weeping) means, in submission to Allah, may He be glorified, and in expression of their belief and faith in His Book and His Messenger . وَيَزِيدُهُمْ خُشُوعًا (and it increases their humility.) means, it increases them in faith and submission. As Allah says: وَالَّذِينَ اهْتَدَوْاْ زَادَهُمْ هُدًى وَءَاتَـهُمْ تَقُوَاهُمْ (While as for those who accept guidance, He increases their guidance and bestows on them their Taqwa. ) (47:17). وَيَخِرُّونَ (And they fall down) is a description rather than an action (i.e., this is a further description of their humility as referred to in Ayah 107; it does not imply that they prostrate twice).

سماعت قرآن عظیم کے بعد فرمان ہے کہ تمہارے ایمان پر صداقت قرآن موقوف نہیں تم مانو یا نہ مانو قرآن فی نفسہ کلام اللہ اور بیشک برحق ہے۔ اس کا ذکر تو ہمیشہ سے قدیم کتابوں میں چلا آ رہا ہے۔ جو اہل کتاب، صالح اور عامل کتاب اللہ ہیں، جنہوں نے اگلی کتابوں میں کوئی تحریف و تبدیلی نہیں کی وہ تو اس قرآن کو سنتے ہی بےچین ہو کر شکریہ کا سجدہ کرتے ہیں کہ اللہ تیرا شکر ہے کہ تو نے ہماری موجودگی میں اس رسول کو بھیجا اور اس کلام کو نازل فرمایا۔ اپنے رب کی قدرت کاملہ پر اس کی تعظیم و توقیر کرتے ہیں۔ جانتے تھے کہ اللہ کا وعدہ سچا ہے، غلظ نہیں ہوتا۔ آج وہ وعدہ پورا دیکھ کر خوش ہوتے ہیں، اپنے رب کی تسبیح بیان کرتے ہیں اور اس کے وعدے کی سچائی کا اقرار کرتے ہیں۔ خشوع و خضوع، فروتنی اور عاجزی کے ساتھ روتے گڑ گڑاتے اللہ کے سامنے اپنی ٹھوڑیوں کے بل سجدے میں گرپڑتے ہیں ایمان و تصدیق اور کلام الہٰی اور رسول اللہ کی وجہ سے وہ ایمان و اسلام میں، ہدایت وتقویٰ میں، ڈر اور خوف میں اور بڑھ جاتے ہیں۔ یہ عطف صفت کا صفت پر ہے سجدے کا سجدے پر نہیں۔
